Budgets

Budgets let you set a monthly spending limit for any expense category and track your progress through the month.

Creating a budget

Open the Budget tab and tap +. Choose an expense category and set a monthly amount. Each category can have one budget at a time.

Free users can have up to 3 active budgets. Upgrade to Premium for unlimited budgets.

Rollover

Enable Rollover unused budget to carry unspent amounts forward. If you underspent last month, the surplus adds to this month's limit. If you overspent, the shortfall reduces it.

Editing mid-month

When editing an existing budget you can choose how the change applies:

• Only this month — adjusts the current month without affecting future months.

• From this month on — updates the base amount going forward and clears any one-off monthly overrides.

How spending is calculated

Lode adds up expense transactions in the category for the current calendar month. Transactions in other currencies are converted to your base currency. In shared accounts, transactions other participants have hidden are excluded from your totals.

Notifications

When your spending approaches the budget limit, Lode sends a Budget Alert notification. When you hit 100%, the notification becomes Budget Exceeded. Set the alert threshold in Settings → Notifications.
