Importing Your Data

If you're switching from another app or have a bank export, Lode can import your transaction history automatically.

Supported formats

• CSV — most banks and finance apps can export to CSV

• Excel (.xlsx) — spreadsheets with transaction data

• PDF — bank statements

• JSON — Lode backup files

• XML — structured exports from other apps

• Database files — SQLite exports such as .db, .sqlite, .mmbak, and .fydb

How to import

1. Go to Settings → Backup & Sync and tap Import

2. Tap Select File and choose your file

3. Lode analyzes the file and maps the columns to the right fields — amount, date, category, and notes

4. Review the preview and tap Import to finish

Lode uses AI to recognize column names automatically, even if they're in a different language or format. If something is mapped incorrectly, you can adjust it before confirming.

After importing

All imported transactions will appear in your transaction list. Check the dates, amounts, and categories to make sure everything looks right.

Made a mistake? You can undo the whole import in one tap. Go to Settings → Backup & Sync, find the Last Import section, and tap Undo Last Import. This removes all items created by that import without affecting anything else.

Tips for a clean import

• If your CSV has a header row, leave it in — Lode uses it to identify columns

• Make sure amounts use a consistent format, for example 1234.56 or 1 234,56

• If your file has both income and expenses, check that the sign or type column is included

Importing from another app?

Lode's importer handles exports from many popular finance apps automatically. It detects the source format and maps the columns for you, so in most cases you can simply export your data, pick the file, and import. If anything is mapped incorrectly, adjust it in the review step before confirming.
